Some sexual predators are church members. But more prominent and deadly are those who prey on children through their roles as pastors, music leaders, youth directors, and counselors. Research suggests that more cases of sexual misconduct involve ordained and other professional staff than involve volunteer workers. The greatest financial damages against churches have resulted from unlawful sexual assaults by those in professional ministry. Churches must insist on accountability from their leaders.
